The European Institute of Communications has always complied with Data Protection Laws and ensured that any personal information obtained was securely protected and the rights of the individual duly respected under both legal and ethical compliance perspectives. With the introduction of GDPR we have extended our Data Protection and Privacy Policy to ensure that we are fully GDPR compliant and to maintain our ethical standards.

Membership details are held during the term of your membership and solely for record verification. From a course perspective we will hold a record the details from your application, course, academic year and results an internal record perspective.

- Like all websites, the Institute’s site is optimised and collects information through cookie technology and is solely used for analytical purposes
- Through our social media sites: if you voluntarily like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn or as a student request to join our Student Facebook group
The purpose of gathering information depends on the nature of your interaction with the Institute.
- Applications for course enrolment will require title, name, address, email, phone, nationality, date of birth, your present employment details, your academic background and any other applicable voluntary information you decide to provide. This information is essential to process your application.
- E-zine requests simply require your name and email address
- Membership applications require such information as title, name, address, email, phone, date of birth, your employment history and your professional experience
- Enquires whether by phone or email will only require your name, email and contact telephone number. This is for record purposes and only requested for the purposes should there be any further interaction between you and the Institute regarding a course application, course programme, membership or continuing communication as a result of your enquiry

- Course enrolment means that we need your details as specified above to administer your time as a student with the institute. This includes sending course details, notes, and general administrative information. As a student we also record your grades, attendance, course work and any other applicable consensual and legally required information relevant to the completion of your course programme
- For the purpose of receipt of our e-zine your name and email addresses is added to our database from which you can un-subscribe at any time
- Membership details are used solely for the purpose of administering your membership and notifying you of events and activities, course programmes and industry news
- Information relative to enquiries is only used for the purpose of dealing with your specific enquiry

- An accrediting or awarding body when you enroll on a particular course
- A course partner
- Some courses due to the nature of their content may require additional personal information such as your passport details for security purposes to gain access to buildings such as the European Parliament and European Commission. However, this depends on the course you have enrolled and is obtained by consent and will be discussed with you in advance
- When you enroll as a student you are given a student identity number. This allows us to pass your work to applicable examiners and or external examiners and guarantees your personal anonymity. In addition, your details or part thereof can be shared with your course director and lecturer(s) solely for the purpose of administering and the delivery of your course programme
- No information will be shared to any other third party for purposes of references or verification without your prior consent
